Spicy Mixed Nuts, Yes Please!
So one of my favorite stops in any Mall is the candy and nut booth. You know which ones I’m talking about right? The ones that sit right out in the middle of the mall walkway.
If you’ve ever been shopping in the indoor malls around in the South you can’t miss them. They always have an employee cooking a fresh batch of their candied nuts at exactly the time you walk by that area!
Those roasting nuts make the mall smell heavenly and once I smell that aroma all my ideas of shopping fade away and I have to head straight to that booth!
How do they do that? How did they know I am a sucker for roasted nuts? And how on earth are their Sweet and Spicy Cashews so good that I will pay a fortune for that small bag?
Despite them costing so much I usually give in and have a bag as a special treat, but on top of the money being not budget friendly, the added sugars are horrible for me.
So those two reasons are why I set out on this mission to create a low carb and sugar-free recipe for my favorite combo spicy and sweet!
Making My Sweet and Spicy Nuts
When I go to create a recipe, I look for not only the best way to combine all the ingredients for a great end product but I also work on making the process as simple as possible.
So as I started thinking of ways I could jazz up my second favorite snack, the nut, I knew that whatever I decided on would need to have fewer than 3 steps, simple ingredients, and overall short cook time.
Those are all important to me and they are not too much to ask for in a recipe if you ask me!
So if those things are important to you and you enjoy nuts then these mixed nuts will be a winner for you as they were for me! So let’s dive into the recipe, shall we?
So for this recipe, you’ll need:
3 cups of Mixed Nuts
1 egg white
1 Tablespoon of Water
2 Tablespoons of Cinnamon
2 teaspoons of Cummin
1 teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
Cooking Spray
Once you have all your ingredients gathered making this low carb snack is as simple as mixing it all up in a bowl, baking them, then letting them cool before serving.
If you ask me, and you did ask me right, the hardest part is letting them cool! I mean it is hard enough smelling these nuts as they roast in the oven without drooling, but letting them sit and cool without diving into them is one of the hardest things I have ever done!
Well, that is a little over dramatic, but you get the picture, it’s hard to wait! But trust me they will be extremely hot and will need to cool completely to be at their best for snacking!
Oh and here a side note while…the nuts cool….. if you’re wondering what food takes up the first spot on my favorite snack list (since I mentioned nuts were my second favorite) well that simple. It’s cheese!
Any type of cheese makes my heart happy! Well…except blue cheese….yuck! But that is a snack for a different blog post! Let me get my mind off cheese and back onto these delicious Sweet and Spicy Mixed Nuts!

Sweet and Spicy Mixed Nuts
Toasted mixed nuts coated in a low carb sweet and spicy coating. Great for a protein filled snack.
Ingredients
- 1 large egg white
- 1 tablespoon of water
- 24 ounces of Mixed Nuts
- 1/4 cup of THM Super Sweet ( or your favorite Erythritol blend)
- 1 tablespoon Cinnamon
- 2 teaspoon Cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon of Salt
- 1/2 to 1 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper, depending on how spicy you want them
Instructions
- In a small bowl add the egg white and water. With a mixer on low mix until the egg white is foamy.
- Next add the mixed nuts to a large bowl and pour in the frothy egg white mixture. Stir well to make sure all nuts are coated. Set the nuts aside.
- Mix the sweetener and spice together and add to the bowl of nuts. Toss the nuts thoroughly to ensure all are coated in the spice mixture.
- Spread the nuts out evenly on a parchment lined baking sheet and back at 300 degrees for about 12 minutes.
- Remove the nuts from the oven and stir them around before placing them back in the oven for 8-10 additional minutes. Watch them closely so they do not burn during this stage.
- Cool the Sweet and Spice Mixed Nuts completely and store in an airtight container. Serving size 1 oz.
