My Personal Review:
His Risk is the fourth book in Shelley Shepard Gray’s series The Amish of Hart County, and I enjoyed reading it just as I have the previous three books. I have had had the privilege to review the other books as well here on the blog thanks to LitFuse Publicity, so be sure and check out my review for those under the Book Review tab at the top of the page.
In His Risk, we follow Calvin Fisher and Alice as they start an unlikely friendship and work their way through hurdles and some scary things that happen around them. Outside of her running around years as a teenager, Alice was a devout Amish girl with a great childhood that loved teaching her preschool students and dreamed of having kids of her own to raise. Calvin, though raise Amish, had a very harsh childhood and left the Amish to live in the English world working with a gang. So it was no shock that in the community there are many that don’t think their friendship is a great idea. But despite that and the bigger obstacles standing in their way they are both determined to remain friends.
I loved that there was both a story of friendship and romance mixed with a little suspense in this book. It kept me wanting to read the next pages to see what would happen to the main characters. As always with Gray’s books, I fell in love with the characters. She does such a wonderful job. I also enjoyed seeing the family members Mark and Wanetta from past books in this series again in His Risk. As with the other books in this series, I highly recommend that you run out and grab a copy of this book. I know I am not so patiently waiting or the next book to come out, ha!
